Six Suspects Apprehended After €12M Armed Raid on Gold Processing Laboratory in France

A group of six individuals equipped with military-grade weapons employed explosives to force entry into a gold refining laboratory located in Lyon, France, causing light wounds to five staff members during what is being called the most recent prominent daylight theft to affect the country.

The audacious robbery was carried out on Thursday late morning, with officers rapidly detaining the individuals believed responsible and securing the stolen items assessed at around €12 million (£10.5M), officials reported.

Five workers of the gold refining company were slightly hurt as a result of the detonation, and three individuals were transported to hospital for evaluation, officials confirmed. A total of twenty-eight staff were at the location when the thieves struck.

Those arrested, believed to be experienced criminals, were detained a brief time later in the adjacent municipality of the town of Vénissieux, authorities revealed.

A female accomplice involved in the robbery was likewise arrested, according to law enforcement.

“Six individuals who utilized explosives in an attack on a metals processing plant in Lyon were caught in the act,” the French interior minister stated online, lauding police for their “quick action, authority and management”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were recovered as well.
