McKenna's Stance on The Scottish Club

McKenna referred to the Glasgow giants as "an enormous football club" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties took charge of Ipswich in 2021 and led them to the English top flight with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only a handful of victories last season as they were demoted back to the second division and they currently sit 12th in England's second tier.

"I have not had any of those discussions," the English capital native ex- Northern Ireland youth international said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my focus is this week.

"I possess a special position here at a remarkable club. And we're at a crucial stage of the season. Everything external hasn't touched my radar."

Background and Contractual Details

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about those. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and declare what they were, but naturally it's a really big football club."

McKenna agreed to a new four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his reported £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are things," he responded. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you regardless!

"I tackle this role like I'll be Ipswich manager indefinitely. I understand that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I'll always give maximum effort as long as I remain in position."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

Bellamy represented Celtic on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in 2005, but the ex- Wales forward is minded to complete the ongoing World Cup qualification, a stance that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently in third place in their qualifying group behind group toppers Belgium and runners-up Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and North Macedonia in next month would book their position in the final qualifying round, but they are all but assured of making those, thanks to a productive European competition campaign, should they fail to end up Group J second place.

Considering his current stance, the Wales manager, whose contract expires after the European Championship, would be unavailable until after the play-offs at the minimum.
