Newest Oil Plant Assault Reveals 'No Protected Areas in the Russian Far Hinterland'
Ukrainian drones have hit the Russian oil facility in the city of Ufa, located some 1,400 kilometers from Ukraine, causing detonations and a fire, according to a source in the Ukrainian Security Service.
This marks the latest Ukrainian security service long-range attack in Bashkortostan in the recent weeks. These attacks show that there are no protected areas in the distant backlines of the Russian state.
Ukrainian President Urges Trump to Broker Ceasefire in the Conflict
Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on President Trump to facilitate a truce in Ukraine in a telephone conversation on the weekend.
"Provided that a hostilities can be ended in a single area, then certainly additional conflicts can be halted as well, including the Russian war," he said, hailing the US President's "outstanding" Gaza peace initiative and urging the American leader to pressure the Russian government into negotiations.
Russian Assaults Claim Casualties in Ukraine
Strikes by Russia on Ukrainian territory killed at least five people on the weekend and disrupted electricity to areas of the southern Odesa oblast, according to authorities in Ukraine.
Two civilians lost their lives within a church in Kostyantynivka when it was hit, according to municipal sources.
In the Russian border region of the Belgorod region, a truck driver was fatally wounded by a Ukrainian strike, per regional authorities.
Power Repair Work in Kyiv
Operations proceeded on the weekend to recover electricity in Kyiv, after assaults.
Electricity had been restored to over 800,000 inhabitants by the weekend and the biggest private energy company said the key efforts to recover electricity was complete though partial blackouts persisted.
Anti-Aircraft Actions and Drone Downings
Ukraine's defense forces intercepted or jammed 54 out of seventy-eight UAVs from Russia launched targeting the country in the dark hours, the air force reported on Saturday.
The Russian military authorities stated it shot down 42 enemy drones over Russian territory.
Cuban Government Refutes Claims of Deploying Soldiers to Ukraine
Havana on the weekend rejected American assertions it has sent troops to engage in the Ukraine war, while declaring officials in Havana "do not have precise information about Cuban nationals" participating "independently" or "in the military forces of either party".
The ministry in the capital stated twenty-six Cuban citizens had been given prison terms to jail sentences ranging from five up to fourteen years for mercenary activity since last September when information spread of Cuban nationals being dispatched to the front in Ukraine.
Surrender Initiative Project Discloses Data on Cuban Involvement
The surrender initiative, a state project that urges adversaries to give up, stated in May: "We reliably know the personal data of 1,028 Cubans who enlisted with the Russian military in 2023-2024."
The government in Havana stated of Cuban nationals who might be involved: "It is irrefutable that no individual have the encouragement, dedication, or authorization of the government in Havana for their actions."
Relatives of Cubans who left for Russia in 2023 reported to international media at the time that their family members had been deceptively recruited through advertisements on digital networks.
