Jurgen Klopp admits rejoining to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.
The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, indicated that returning someday remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful near-decade reign that included Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, currently occupies positions as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and as an advisor with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed England's top flight in the previous campaign, though countless followers who adore the manager would be thrilled by the idea that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he shared with the podcast host: “I said I refuse to lead any other side in England. Which implies in case it's my former club...absolutely. It's plausible.”
“At 58 years old, so I could make the decision down the line, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
When asked about which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to management, he confessed he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for press conferences multiple times weekly or constant media duties a week.
“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, however, dining out with the players talking freely, that’s nice. We won a lot of games meaning regularly positive atmosphere in the building. I still have the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears to illustrate.”
Praise for His Successor
Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him for the tweaks which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated a string of losses in all competitions post heavy investment, but he rubbished the notion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. Ekitike, incredible player. It’s a really good well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
He shared movingly on the loss of the Portuguese star, a player he signed while in charge, along with the consequences for the team. The forward lost his life in a car crash together with his sibling recently.
“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the dressing room without him in it. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for all the boys as well. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Dealing with that emotionally is challenging. Overwhelming.”
