Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
