Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
