Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Dies at Age 60.
American actor Finn, who was seen in beloved programs including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles on Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.
"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones shared in a statement.
They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive TV Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a social organizer who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on several well-known programs, including:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- "That '70s Show"
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a six-member improv team known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, peer Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote online.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, his children, and his family.
